Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Where are your ticks? Only draft pints in lower Stretty, £3.80.

But it's £3.80 bottles all over the ground. Bizarrely cheap, was a weird concession during the COVID protests that they agreed to.

Think turnstiles open two hours pre KO
Thank you, tickets are in W202 so should be a cheap night

I would not tinker too much so

    Onana

    Yoro DeLigt Martinez

    Maz Ugarte Mainoo Malacia

    Amad Hojlund Bruno

Go strong and then hopefully get into a good position to use the bench early in the second half to give a breather to the likes of Bruno and Ugarte. I know there is a lot of pressure to drop Hojlund but after he slogged through two of our toughest fixtures I think he should get the chance to start in what should be an easier game as he was rotated out the last time we had an easy PL fixture when he could have used the confidence boost. Would also be nice to see Kukonki get a few minutes in this one if it is looking comfortable.

We really should be going more attacking than playing Mazraoui and Malacia at WB against this lot.

    Garnacho-Zirkee-Amad
    Dalot-Bruno-Ugarte-Mazroui

    Or

    Zirkzee
    Bruno - Amad
    Garnacho-Mainoo-Ugarte-Mazroui
I prefer option 1 but Dalot maybe dropped for his poor tackle by amorim & also Garnacho had a nice little cameo at wing back in that game covering Dalot being sent off.
    Dalot is suspended?

Given that Amorim said many will need to rest and that we have a tough game against Brighton 3 days later, I'd go -

Bayindir (he's earnt it); Yoro, de Ligt, Martinez; Antony, Collyer, Casemiro, Malacia; Garnacho, Eriksen; Zirkzee

Maybe a bit extreme and it may be coinciding with Southampton starting to find their way so I'm probably being silly.
    Good self analysis.

Will be interesting to see if he makes changes. Team is clearly knackered and you don't want to risk injuries.

    -------Onana---------
    Maz ---Maguire--Yoro
    Antony-- Casemiro/Eriksen -- Ugarte -- Malacia
    Amad--Zirkzee--Bruno
    Absolutely no.

We have 5 subs so we don't need to rest key players (Martinez, De Ligt, Mainoo, Ugarte and Bruno) but we can make changes like for like, Yoro can come in and start instead of Maguire, Dalot is suspended so we will need Malacia to start, and we can afford to have Zirkzee start ahead of Hojlundif we dominate the game properly then we won't need to exert alot of energy and if we score some goals we can have Collyer and Eriksen come into midfield and maybe Garna for Bruno.

    Onana
    Yoro De Ligt Martine
    Maz Mainoo Ugarte Malacia
    Amad Bruno
    Zirkzee
    Nothing wrong with your plan.

There’s more chance of me been in goals than Bayindir

    Shades of Romero here

Not sure how we are going to score since we are pretty poor against compact defenses. A free kick beauty from Amad maybe.

Has he ever done that? I could rather see him delivering a delicious cross and (if fit) a beautiful slabhead feasting on it.

Our next 7 league games are all very winnable. Hopefully we'll be 8th or 9th by then and then maybe try to scrape into top 5 or 6.
I'm not too optimistic of that though.

Good line up. A very smart and good manager knows when to go attacking and he’s doing just that. Great defence and playing Amad at RWB.

So thinking resting some players that played between 80-120 minutes just 4 days ago when we only have 2 days off before our next match and then a Europa match 4 days later while in the midst of playing 6 matches in 16 days is an odd arrogance?

    Come off it.
Thankfully Amorim saw it my way with the selection as expected.

Would he have gone with Amad at RWB if Dalot wasn’t suspended I wonder?

Zirkzee should have been rewarded with a start IMO
Arguably should have started over Hojlund but I think at this point, whether Hojlund is better or worse than Zirkzee, I think it's clear to see he prefers the type of forward Hojlund is for the 9 than Zirkzee is. I don't think he see's him as a longterm 9 here

I feel like we never see cup heroics from non starters ever actually translate to them starting the next game. Am sure he will get on, hopefully we can start super fact and just put these to the sword. Lord knows we're due a big win.

Probably not. We really lack depth. With this setup, the only attacker we have on the bench is Zirkzee. You really want more options to change a game if needed.

The only trick we have up our sleeve if we want more firepower with this setup is dropping Bruno back into midfield and Zirkzee into the #10.

Unless you're going to start counting entirely notional players like Shaw that could be our best 11, at least for less tough matches.

Makes sense to start Yoro ahead of Maguire when our defensive line is going to be a lot higher than the last 2 games.

Hope Garnacho bags a goal or two!
